Ride the waves at Caxias:

The Tagus Estuary, just to the west of Lisbon central is where most wave riders in this capital will retreat. The Tagus Estuary is a hidden paradise for surfers.

This pretty enclave has some challenging left-to-right breaks and there are plenty of tour outfitters offering surf lessons on the swells perfect if you are a total beginner looking for an escape from city life with its beaches that offer endless hours exploring nature at your feet or getting up close under water as rays glide past us mere humans without noticing we’re here!

Closest to town lie more popular beaches where day trippers can be found lounging under umbrellas or firing up barbecues at sunset before returning home in their luxury cars.
